Finance Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an AI-first Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day financial operations of the company and aggressively automate them. Reporting to the CEO, you will own financial planning, AP/AR, the production of financial statements, tax compliance, and government filings. You will be expected to use AI agents, LLMs, and modern automation tooling to do this work in a fraction of the time it traditionally takes. You will work closely with our external crypto-specialized accounting partner to ensure our books, reporting, and tax filings accurately reflect the realities of operating across fiat and digital asset rails.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and financial models supporting pricing, headcount, and capital allocation decisions
- Deliver monthly variance analysis, management reporting, and financial insight on new products, partnerships, and market expansion
- Oversee the full AP/AR cycle, vendor onboarding, invoice approvals, payment runs, collections, and reconciliations across fiat bank accounts and digital asset wallets
- Manage relationships with banking partners, payment processors, and exchanges, with proper authorization and segregation of duties over cash disbursements
- Own month-end and year-end close, producing timely, accurate financial statements under ASPE/IFRS and consolidated reporting packages for leadership and the board
- Coordinate with our external crypto accounting firm on digital asset treatment, valuations, reconciliations, and serve as primary contact for auditors
- Manage all corporate tax compliance (federal/provincial income tax, GST/PST/HST, T4/T5) and timely filings with CRA, BC Registries, Statistics Canada, and other authorities
- Partner with external advisors on digital asset tax treatment, cross-border flows, SR&ED claims, and government incentive filings
- Design and deploy AI-driven workflows to automate close, reconciliations, AP/AR, expense categorization, and reporting
- Build and maintain AI agents and scripts that ingest data from banks, exchanges, wallets, processors, and the ERP, producing reconciled, audit-ready outputs with minimal manual intervention
- Partner with engineering to expose internal data via APIs and pipelines so finance workflows are programmatic rather than manual
- Develop accounting policies, internal controls, and process documentation appropriate for a scaling fintech, including controls designed around AI-augmented workflows and digital asset custody
Requirements
- CPA designation (or in final stages of completion)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including ownership of full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation
- Demonstrable AI fluency: actively use LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) in daily work and can point to specific finance processes you have automated or materially accelerated using AI
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian tax (corporate income tax, GST/PST/HST) and government filing requirements
- Experience managing AP/AR functions and cash management at a growing organization
- Demonstrated experience working with external accounting firms and auditors
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with modern accounting/ERP systems (QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and written communication
- Strongly preferred: cryptocurrency accounting experience (digital asset reconciliations, wallet/exchange data, crypto-specific tax considerations)
- Strongly preferred: experience deploying AI agents or building automated finance workflows in production
- Strongly preferred: high-growth fintech or financial services background, familiarity with crypto sub-ledger tools (e.g., Bitwave), SR&ED, or multi-entity consolidations
Benefits
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Performance-based bonus and benefits package
- Extended health and dental coverage
- A high-impact role at one of Canada's fastest-growing fintech companies
- The opportunity to shape the finance function from the ground up alongside an experienced leadership team
- Fully remote role with a collaborative, Vancouver-based team
